Connecting BIG ideas with Practical Solutions at RFG2018

Mar 28, 2018

It’s all about being innovative, provocative and engaging at Resources for Future Generations 2018.

The 4-day scientific program will feature an opening plenary session, as well as themed special sessions throughout the technical program, all of which aim to spark energetic conversation and debate on how to tackle earth’s most pressing challenges.

With a growing agenda of note-worthy keynotes, speakers, and session leaders supporting the event, here are just a few members of the earth sciences community who will be presenting their research and knowledge:

  • Jay Famiglietti, Senior Water Scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory
  • Paul Bauman, Technical Director of the Near Surface Geophysics group of Advisian WorleyParsons
  • Dr Richard Blewett, General Manager of the Minerals Systems Branch at Geoscience Australia
  • John Ludden, Executive Director at the British Geological Survey
  • Thomas Graedel, Emeritus at the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, Yale University
  • Robert Armstrong, MIT Energy Initiative
  • Megan Leslie, President and CEO of World Wildlife Fund Canada
  • Daniel Lebel, Director General of the Geological Survey of Canada
  • Iain Stewart, Professor of Geoscience Communication and Director of the Sustainable Earth Institute at Plymouth University
  • Dr. Scott Tinker, co-producer of the documentary Switch
  • Merran Smith, founder and executive director of Clean Energy Canada
  • Dominique Weis, Canada Research Chair in the Geochemistry of the Earth's Mantle at the University of British Columbia.
  • Ross Beaty, Geologist and Resource Entrepreneur

This is an ambitious, far-reaching initiative that will generate new ideas and conversations and further our understanding of the nexus between minerals, energy, water and how human society can sustain itself on Earth well into the future. The aim is to connect the big thinkers with practical matters and real-world situations. As proud partners in this venture, we hope you will consider registering.
