As many of you may know, the sawmill at Babine Forest had an explosion Friday night, leaving two of our members unaccounted for and many seriously injured. As of this memo we have members in hospitals in Vancouver, Burns Lake, Vanderhoof, Victoria and Edmonton. The Local is assisting in accommodations in Prince George and for family members travelling to be with loved ones.
On behalf of our Local Union we would like to ask you to assist your Sisters and Brothers from the Babine disaster and organize payroll deduction from the membership of your operation with your employer.
It is at this time that we need to pull together and help our Brothers and Sisters of Babine Forest Products. We know that this terrible tragedy has touched each and every one of us. We want to thank you in advance for your donations.
We will be posting updated information on our website: www.usw1-424.ca
In Solidarity,
Frank Everitt
