Dear Conifex Partners,
As you know, we continue to face an unprecedented combination of continued fibre supply challenges in the BC Interior and low lumber prices.
The expected uptick from a spring lumber market has been delayed due to poor weather conditions which has led to subsequent build-up of inventories in the marketplace.
We also continue to experience high log costs and additional challenges with low log inventory levels in Mackenzie and continued uncertainty around the reservoir levels.
In light of this, we will be taking a four week temporary curtailment site-wide at Fort St James and a three week temporary curtailment at the Mackenzie sawmill commencing May 6.
Commencing May 20, we will be taking a one week temporary curtailment at the Mackenzie finishing end.
Please see http://www.conifex.com/main/wp-content/uploads/2019/05 /ConifexNR_TemporaryCurtailment_05.01.2019.pdf for the full announcement.
This has been a difficult decision and I would like to offer a sincere thank you to all our Conifex employees for your continued hard work and commitment.
Vice-President Canadian Operations
