The 2nd Annual Convention of USW 1-2017 was held on the weekend of April 27 and 28th, 2019 at the Ramada, Prince George. Over 125 members from our vast geographical local began the weekend with an informative and entertaining education seminar “Investigations and Interrogations, Representing Members” on Saturday by Craig Bavis of Victory Square Law. As well British Columbia’s Minister of Labour Harry Bains was in attendance and spoke to the Delegates concerning changes and the direction of the Labour movement. Members also heard from Local 5114 (Idaho) members Bruce Baraby and Rick Norman who have been on Strike for over 2 years and spoke of the impacts to their community and families, an enlightening subject regarding our recent bargaining. The weekend finished with informative and passionate debate from our members on the Resolutions that were presented this year. The meeting was adjourned long enough for members to attend the April 28th Day of Mourning ceremony in the community.
