RE: Local Union’s Refund Policy
As of March 1, 2023, the Local Union requires all Members to submit their Dues Refund requests, in order to start the refund process. This includes any monthly over-payments remitted to the Union.
Please review The Local Union’s policy to Refund Union Dues:
1) Members who work forty (40) hours or less in a calendar month can request their dues to be refunded, by providing proof of their hours. Proof of hours can be:
a) Pay-stubs for the full month (1st to the 31st), or
b) Verification of hours worked for the month provided by your Payroll Department
2) Please send all refund request(s) to Michelle Kirouac by email, michelle@usw1-2017.ca, fax (250) 563-0274, or mail to USW 1-2017 – 100 1777 3rd Ave, Prince George, BC V2L 3G7.
3) Dues Refund Requests will be processed at the end each month, for the requested month and will be issued upon reconciliation of dues payments.

BC Forest Safety Council Launches “Connection to Care” Mental Health Support Program for Forestry Workers
Nanaimo, BC – January 13, 2026 – The BC Forest Safety Council (BCFSC) is proud to announce the launch of Connection to Care, a free, confidential mental health support service designed to help forestry workers across British Columbia. This initiative officially began on January 5th, 2026, and will run until December 31st, 2027, offering vital upstream mental health care to thousands of workers in the forest sector.
