RE: WALTER ENERGY SEVERANCE PAY! IT'S HAPPENING!!!!!
The Local Union is happy to share this latest update with all of you. The Court Appointed Monitor which makes the payments to people that Walter Energy and Wolverine Mine owed money to is starting to process cheques to pay the termination and severance pay that our members are owed.
The current CONIFEX Sawmill in Fort St. James was first owned and operated by Takla Forest Products. When they started, they employed 350 hourly workers and 40 staff, plus Forestry technicians. The operation consisted of Planers, Studmill, Dimension Mill and Veneer Plant.
