Jake Bergen he will be missed

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jacob (Jake) Bergen of Mission BC, on November the 28th 2012.
Jake is survived by his loving wife Martha and his stepson Mark.

Jake was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan August 13, 1926.
Jake spent most of his working life in the Forest Industry on the coast of British Columbia, as a hand faller of the huge trees on Vancouver Island.
He was the President of the Fallers Association in the early 1970’s and lead the strike that brought safety concerns and much needed pay increase to a head for such a dangerous job.
Later Jake and his family moved to Chetwynd where he began to work for Canfor. During his time there he was active in his Local Union I.W.A. Local 1-424 on the Safety Committee and Plant Committee, plus serving as an officer of the Local Union.

Jake's other passion was his love for politics both Provincial and Federal and he was always up for debates if you were of a mind.

Jake will be missed by his family and many friends.
